GAOLED FOR BIGAMY
“This is a distinctly bad case,” said Mr. Justice Reed this morning, when sending Kevan Francis Burns to gaol for IS months with hard labour for bigamy.
Mr. Hall Skelton said that the prisoner was 24 years of age. His first wife left him and he instituted proceedings for restitution of conjugal rights. He then went to the country and married the other woman. It was an unfortunate case, and although a serious crime he would ask for lenient treatment. His Honour said the prisoner had three children by the two women, and had represented to the second woman that he was a single man. It was a case that would have to be marked by a substantial penalty.
