MINISTERS’ PROTEST ON TIN HARES MAYOR REMAINS SILENT At the final meeting for the year of the Auckland Ministers’ Association, held to-day, regret was expressed that no replies had been received from the Mayor of Auckland, Mr, G. Baildon, and the chairman of the Harbour Board, Mr. H. R. McKenzie, to the letters sent by the association deprecating the proposed introduction of mechanical-hare coursing into Auckland. The names of Messrs. Baildon and McKenzie have been associated with the proposed sport referred to by the association. The Rev. J. Pattison presided over the meeting, which was held in the Pitt Street Methodist Church. He gave a timely and helpful address on evangelism as the minister’s personal duty and privilege. Wireless broadcasting by the churches was discussed by the meeting, a committee of inquiry reporting that it was unlikely that the broadcasting of non-episcopal services would in any way be prejudiced by the proposed inauguration of a separate Anglican broadcasting station. The association’s meetings were suspended until March of next year.
