Carlaw Park En Fete

CADETS’ AND GIRLS’ SPORTS Athletics and Drill Displays CARLAW PARK was en fete on Saturday afternoon when the combined sports meeting of the Auckland senior cadets and Inter-House Girls’ Sports Association entertained a big crowd.

'pHE meeting was conducted by the Auckland Military Sports Association. There was a colourfu. blending of the frocks of the inter-house girls with the khaki-clad figures of the cadets. The girls turned out in full force and 450 cadets were on parade. The entries in almost every case were so large that heats were necessary. The meeting was opened by a tabloid sports meeting by the cadets, and this was followed by a series of attractive events by the inter-house girls. Especially fine was the massed drill by the girls, and the vaulting horSfe display by the cadets. As it was found impossible to complete the final of the tabloid sports the winning team of each course will compete for the Herald Cup in the near future. The finalists are:— A Course. —3sth Company, Devonport, 61J points. B Course. Auckland Grammar School, 55 points. C Course. —Technical College A team. 574 points. During the day music was supplied by the 3rd Regiment, New Zealand Mounted Rifles, the Auckland Artillery Band, and the Ist Battalion Auckland Regiment.
