GLEN EDEN TEAM HAS NARROW WIN

SOME TALL SCORING By defeating- Green Lane by 26 runs Glen Eden secured another narrow win. The game was bright though not exactly scientific, hard hitting being a noticeable feature. Most of the scoring one ky two men on each side. rhe opening batsmen going early, it remained for Shepherd and J. Belsham to pile on the runs for Glen Eden. Shepherd though possessed of an awkward style was very forceful, throwing out his shoulders to everything. A change in the bowling found Robinson rather devastating. Shepherd fell victim to him off his first ball. Belsham continued to hit out merrily, but eventually Robinson spread his wicket. Glen Eden declared its inflings closed on time limit with nine wickets down for 153. C. Watts and Robinson opened for Green Lane. Robinson, after scoring a single, was bowled by Kerr. Wroath followed and also fell to Kerr after reaching double figures. Cole seemed to be set when Ker, who was bowling particularly well, sent him back to the pavilion also. Watts batted strongly and in 25 minutes had reached his half century before Kerr clean-bowled him. He had hit eight fours and a sixer. Seecombe was in next, and following the example of his predecessor, hit everything that came his way. On nearing the thirties he hit a four and two sixes off Kerr, but fell to the next ball. With an hour’s play left and 28 runs wanted for a win, it seemed as though Green Lane might gain the victory, but the tail failed to rise to* the occasion. Kerr, as on the previous Saturday, proved a tower of strength to Glen Eden, taking seven wickets for a total of 66 runs. Glen Eden went in and played out time, having six wickets down for 97 at the close of the day. Scores: — GLEN EDEN First Innings E.
