BIG FORD PURCHASE
FIVE MILLION ACRES BRAZIL RUBBER LAND By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyrtgns. Reed. 10.30 a.m. NEW YORK. Sunday. Mr. Henry Ford announces that his company recently purchased 5.000.000 acres from the Brazilian Government, situated on the Piquabuba Plateau, in the State of Para. It is rich volcanic soil. Mr. Ford says that if the entire tract can be placed in production it will not only change the entire situation of the rubber industry of the world, but will also give Northern Brazil a tremendous agricultural and industrial impetus. Planting begins immediately, and he expects that in seven years there will be an immense annual production.—A. and N.Z.
