ORANGE BLOSSOMS

JOHNSTON—PASSAU A pretty though quiet wedding took place on November 22 at St. Barnabas’s Church, Stoke, Nelson, the Rev. J. A. Rogers, M.A., officiating, when Plarold Johnston, of Aniseed Valley, was married to Joan, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fassau, of Te Kuiti. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a. frock of ivory georgette, trimmed with fine lace. She wore the orthodox wreath of orange blossoms and veil, which was beautifully embroidered, and carried a bouquet of white roses, orange blossom and maidenhair fern with silver streamers. The bridesmaid was Miss Beth Mubin, who wore a rose pink crepe de chine frock, piped with green, and a white crinoline hat. She carried an early Victorian posy of pink rosebuds and maidenhair fern with gold streamers, and wore tho bridegroom’s gift, a string of pearls. Mr. Douglas Thompson acted as best man. The bride’s mother wore a smart frock of navy blue georgette, with hat to match. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in brown marocain. Mrs. Rogers wore a pretty pink crepe de chine frock and hat. Mrs. Snodgrass, aunt of the bride, wore a frock of delphinium blue taffeta. After the ceremony the bridal party and guests adjourned to the residence of tho Rev. J. A. and Mrs. Rogers, Stoke, where the wedding breakfast was held, and the customary toasts honoured. The bride’s travelling frock was of navy braided gabardine, with which was worn a grey tailored tweed coat and a grey velour hat. Mr. and Mrs. Johnston left for the South by motor to spend their honeymoon. SMITH—POTIER The wedding took place in St. John's Church, Waihi, on Wednesday, of Miss Ada Potier, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Potier, Waihi, and Mr. William Smith, of Auckland, son of Mrs. Smith, Staffordshire, England. Tho Rev. Canon E. T. Mayne officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of satin beaute trimmed with silver, and her veil of filmy tulle was finished with orange blossom and silver. Her bouquet consisted of a sheaf of waxen lilies. Miss Potier’s sisters, Violet and Emily, acted as bridesmaids, and Mr. Norman Jamieson as best man, with Mr. Frank White as groomsman. Miss Violet Potier wore a rose pink crepe de chine dress with lace insets and hat to match. Mis Emily Potier was in a. frock of opal blue crepe de chine with hat to tone. The ceremony was fully choral, Mrs. Goodwin presiding at the organ. After the ceremony a reception was held in St. John’s Schoolroom, when a large number of friends were entertained. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will make their future home in Auckland.
