DAIRY EXPORT
LARGER SHIPMENTS THIS YEAR SAVING IN STORAGE (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. A quicker return to farmers and great saving in storage and other charges is hoped for by the Dairy Produce Board, which decided, to-day to allow larger quantities of butter and cheese to be shipped to Great Britain during the
coming year than was sent to the Elomeland last year. Mr. W. Grounds, chairman, said after a meeting of the board that the decision had been reached in view of the general market conditions in Great Britain, and the fact that other producing countries, Canada, Australia and the Argentine were expected to have less butter available for export during coming months than was usual. Quicker export would make returns available for producers much earlier, and the saving of storage and other charges should be considerable. The question of the validity of the
present conditions of export shipping licences was brought before the board, and it was decided to have this further investigated. Licences were objected to by several Auckland exporters recently. A further payment on last year’s cheese account will be made on December 13 to the aggregate of about £20,000.
