PERMANENT SITE FOR WINTER SHOW
COMPANY PROPOSED The A. and P. Society and the Manufacturers’ Association, acting in conjunction, have set up a committee to inquire into the prospect of securing a permanent site and buildings for the winter exhibition. The question was decided at the meeting of the Winter Exhibition Committee yesterday. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, who presided, remarked that at present they were relying on the Harbour Board, and that could not continue forever. Before any move could be made it was necessary to form a basis to work on. He had asked the solicitors to draw up articles of association, and a draft of these provided that there should be a trust, an incorporated body, controlled by a committee, equally representative of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Manufacturers’ Association. Any profits would be used to foster primary and secondary industries. Mr. Ziman. solicitor, explained the proposal, which was to form a corn - pany. with only two shares, one held by the A and P Society, and the other by the Manufacturers’ Association The Prime Minister had promised to arrange authority for not using the term limited.*' and it would be known as the “Auckland Exhibition Trust.” The chairman said it would perhaps be years before the undertaking con d come into actual being, but they had to start as soon as possible.
