CARRIAGE OF TROUT

TAUrO TO AUCKLAND RAILWAY INNOVATION Although tons of trout are caught each season at Taupo, many fish are left to decay on the banks of the lake and streams. There need be no waste of these excellent fish, as arrangements have been made with the Railway Department for their transport. "piSHERMEN will welcome the inno- ■*- vation, and. friends and families as far away as Auckland and Wellington are now able to receive fish caught up to 11 a.m. at 11 p.m. on the same day. Before leaving the National Park railway station, fishermen should deposit a small sum of money with the

stationmaster —who also acts as postmaster —to cover the cost of the parcels of fish sent forward, and of elegrams advising those to whom the fish is sent. Before leaving the station a quantity of consignment notes and telegram forms should also be obtained. The fishermen pack up their fish and attach an addressed label to each parcel. The/ fill in consignment notes and telegrams to the consignees, and these are handed to the drivers of the service cars, who in turn deliver them to the stationmaster at National Park. The stationmaster dispatches the telegrams, and the parcels of fish are sent on the Limited, north or soutn as the case may be. Some fish which were sent to Auckland recently were as fresh as when they were caught at Taupo.
