TO-NIGHT’S WOOL SALE

RECORD CATALOGUE I GOOD PRICES ANTICIPATED Tn the market place a babel of 7~ sound will arise to-night. Voices of many nations will be raised in keen competition for the pick of the first consignment of Auckland's golden fleece, and unlike most occasions when voices are concerned, the higher the pitch the more pleasing will be the result. In the wool stores of the city, 23,244 bales have been stacked during the past few weeks. It is a record for the city: also, a pleasing indication that the plea for increased production has not been made in vain. Tor several days past buyers bave been arriving in Auckland, ‘and have been busy inspecting and assessing the various offerings in the city stores. About 70 buyers, fully representative of the wool-buying nations, wiil be assembled at the Drill Mall Rutland Street. at 7.30 this evening, when the sale is scheduled to commence. Speculation on the outcome is rife, and the result in many quarters is anxiously awaited, for apart from the immediate benefits derived by the city from a successful sale, it will also be a sound indication of the trend of the season’s prices. Generally speaking the wool has opened up in good condition, and with demand apparently keen conditions are regarded as distinctly favourable. The catalogue and order of the sale is as follows: Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneerins Company. Limited . . . . 4,427 Abraham and Williams, Ltd. . :j.34S Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. 2,650 i.ew Zealand Loan and Mereantile Agency Company. Ltd. 4,745 Dalgety and Company.
