JOHNSON—ROBERTSON A pretty wedding took place at the Church of the Holy Epiphany, Ponsonby, this afternoon, when Miss Edna Flora Johnson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Johnson, Dominion Road, Auckland, was married to Mr. Harry Robertson, of Invercargill. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride, who for.a long while was associated with the parish, with white and pink roses and watsonias. A large wedding bell was suspended over the bridal group, and the altar was banked with lilies. The bride, who was given away by her father. Mr. W. Johnson, looked very charming in a Parisian model frock of ivory georgette, exquisitely embroidered with crystal and silver beads, with an underskirt of ivory satin. The long tulle veil, falling from a coronet of orange blossom, formed the train, and she carried a shower bouquet of shell-pink roses with satin streamers. Miss Ouida Xewdick, who was bridesmaid, wore a dainty frock of fawn lace inset with gold embroidery, revealing a blue slip of crepe de chine, and sashed with delft blue. She carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas from which hung streamers of palest blue. Her picture-hat was of peach crinoline, trimmed with velvet ribbon to tone. For her travelling gown, the bride chose a dainty shade of mushroom-pink crepe de chine, with woollen crepe coat to tone, and wore a wide brimmed crinoline hat, caught at the back with a large velvet bow. Mr. Robertson was attended by Mr. Bert Edwards as best man. The ceremony was performed by the RCv. George Coats, and Mr. W. Tate presided at the organ. Miss Johnson was the recipient of a beautiful leather box of greenstone and silver afternoon tea spoons and forks, from Messrs. Milne and Choyoe, with whom she has been associated for the last nine years, and her girl friends last week gave a kitchen supper in her honour, when she was presented with many useful articles for her new home. After the ceremony a reception was given in the Dominion Tea Iviosk by Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, where a large number of friends were entertained. The bride’s mother, who received the guests, wore a handsome gown of beige behgaline and carried a posy of pansies and violets. Among those present were:—Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Mr. M. LAMBOURNE—HAY When Euphemia McLeod, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hay, of 37 Golf Iload, Epsom, was married yesterday afternoon in the Epsom Presbyterian Church, to Arnold Stewart, second soh of Mr. and Mrs. W. Labi bourne, of Shelly Beach Road, Ponsonby, she worer a frock of prettily embossed crepe de chine over silver laee. The bodice was made with a cross-over effect and a deep hem of silver lace showed beneath the skirt. A shoulder spray of orange blossom and a pearl girdle made effective trimming. A veil of exquisite HonitOh lace formed a train, and was caught round the head with a eapette of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and carnations and maidenhair fern, With delicate touches of cream. Miss Rita Barrell, of Sydney, acted as chief bridesmaid, wearing a frock of eau de nil accordion-pleated georgette, with cream lace forming the panels at the sides and effectively inset in the sleeves. Miss Margaret Nielson, of Sydney, also attended in a frock-of Wedgwood blue georgette fashioned on similar lines; and Miss Zillah Murray was a third dainty maid in a frock of briar pink georgette and lace. All Wore crinoline straw hats trimmed with lace and flowers and carried bouquets toning with their frocks. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Alan Lamboufne as best man and Mr. Neil Hay, of Matamata, and Mr. Fred Waterman Were groomsmen. * The service was conducted by the Rev. W. McDonald, assisted by the Rev. J. Kemp. Y.W.C.A. GARDEN FAIR On Saturday next, November 26, the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A. is holding a garden fair in the beautiful grounds of Mrs.* J. McKail Geddes, Hazelbank, Wynyard Street. The function will commence at 2 p.m., and continue through the afternoon. A very attractive programme has been planned, and afternoon tea will be served on the roomy verandah. Stalls Will include cakes, sweets, produce, and Christmas gifts. . Luring the afternoon there will be sets of Old English dances in costume on the lawn. A line group of young Girl Citizens will give a display of drill and marching, while some of the teams of the Auckland Girls’ Athletic Association are giving an exhibition of team games. Altogether, the afternoon Should prove interesting from all points of view, and devoted gardeners will find great pleasure in wandering round the picturesque and well cared-for grounds.
A BRIDGE PARTY A bridge party and dance was given to Miss McCallum by Mrs. A. Cerutty, at her residence, “Glen Cyr,” Gardner Road, on Monday evening last. The host-ess wore a dress o J black lace over black satin, embroidered in shaded roses. Miss Gerutty’s frock was of pale green georgette. The guest of honour was Miss McCallum, daughter of Dr. McCallum, of Xew Plymouth. Bridge was played until 10.30 p.m. Supper was then served, after which the guests danced, and were held until 1 a.m. Among the guests present were.— Mr. and Mrs. Cerutty, Mr. and Airs.
