LUSK GETS A CENTURY (From Our Own Correspondent) PAPATOETOE. To-day. With Papatoetoe out for 329, and two of their wickets down for two. North Shore A set their back to the wall and played an uphill fight on the Papatoetoe ground on Saturday. After batting all afternoon, their last wicket fell one minute before the cal of time for 232, giving Papatoetoe a first innings victory of 97 runs. Shore’s best batsman was Lusk, who played a beautiful game to reach 103 not out. It took him just on four hours, and during that time he had two lives, on account of the home team’s poor fielding. Others to register double figures were P. Foster 50, F. Archer 35. Renshaw 14, and Horsley 12. Bowling for Papatoetoe E. H. Burnside took three wickets for 76 runs; L. Kerr two for 13; Strachan, two for 36: D. Burnside, one for 11; A. Swaffiela. two for 30. AVONDALE PREPARES The newly-formed Avondale Cricket Club is making satisfactory efforts toward getting its teams in the field. The Management Committee has carried out a deal of work, including arrangements for the free use of a room in the training shed of the Suburbs Football Club, and the holding of a benefit picture entertainment, the club to benefit by 50 per cent, on all tickets sold. The membership fee has been fixed at 5s for players over 18 years and 2s 6d for those under. Registration fees of 2s 6d for seniors and Is for juniors will be paid by the respective players. Equipment is being purchased at the present time, and a suitable site is being arranged for on the racecourse.
