BARNETT BATS WELL AT TE AWAMUTU
SATURDAY’S MATCHES (From Our Own Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Sunday. The cricket match, Te Awamutu v. Puahue, took place at Te Awamutu on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the latter team, the scores being, Te Awamutu 172, Puahue 38. Barnett was again in good form, scoring 62 by good all-round cricket. The next highest scorers were Shepherd 26, W. A. Martin 24, Taylor 21, Rickit 13. For Puahue Shea 8 and Dale 7 were the principal scorers. For Te Awamutu, Barnett took four wickets for 21, and Martin, six for 10. Shea, for Puahue was responsible for eight wickets at a cost of 54; L. Natzke, one for 28: Harlork, one for 49. Playing against the Te Kawa team at Te Awamutu, High School scored 172 for the loss of one wicket, Fhilp contributing 70 retired, Armstrong 28, Winter 37, not out, A. Storey 32, not out. Te Kawa replied with 52, Stockdale scoring 19 and R. Martin 13. Winter proved the best bowler, taking five wickets for 20 runs. The score by High School (172 for one wicket), is a record for the teams in the Waipa Association. Paterangi beat Korakonui by 79 runs, the scores being Paterangi 109, Korakonui 36.
