Cycle Road Racing at Mangere
LIMIT MEN DO WELL The two events decided by the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club at Mangere on Saturday afternoon were Avon by riders on long marks. The 5 i-mile junior event was won by A. Reed (4£min), the actual limit rider, who put up a particularly fine unpaced ride for a junior. He was on his own for the whole journey, finally winning by 200yds. In the 11-mile open handicap event, the limit riders again had no difficulty in keeping away from the backmarkers. B. Gardiner (smin), and L. Welsh (s£min), who ran first and second respectively, got together in the last lap, and despite a great effort made by the middle markers, W. Borland, H. Russell and F. Potter, who put in some good work, they could not get to the front division who, pacing strongly, won all the way. The race for fastest time in the open • vent was won by M. P.
