“BARBED WIRE”
A VETERAN STAR Claude Gillingwater, veteran character actor of the screen, played the important role of father in Pola Negri's Paramount picture, “Barbed Wire. ’ In this war drama of the prison camps, adapted from Hall Caine’s masterpiece, “The Woman of Knockaloe Gillingwater portrays the character of a kindly Frenchman who, tolerant of his fellow man and human frailties, becomes violently embittered against all Germans when lie hears his son has been killed at the front. Hi--consuming hatred plays an important part in the development of the drama, and provides him with one of the great opportunities of his film career. Rowland V. Lee directed Barbed Wire.” It was his first picture foi Paramount. Other members of the cast include Clive Brook. Paramount featured player, who appears opposite Miss Negri in the role of the prisoner Einar Hanson, who plays the brother, and Clyde Cook, an Australian, prove* the comedy relief.
