INSPECTORS TRANSFERRED MR. D. GRAHAM’S RETIREMENT A series of transfers of stock inspectors has been authorised by the I>epartment of Agriculture.. The retirement on superannuation of Mr. D. Graham, one of the oldest and most efficient officers of the department, makes a vacancy at Wanganui, which will be filled by Mr. H. Cleland, stock inspector at Matamata. Mr. Graham was for two and a-half years the principal stock inspector for the Auckland province, and in his 30 years of service he had been stationed at Hastings, Napier, and Invercargill. He was an expert, and his retirement will be a loss to the department. Evidence of his popularity with fellowI officers will be shown by a presentation to be made at Wellington on behalf of the branches he has served in. The position at Matamata will be taken by Mr. J. L. Morris. Changes are also pending in the Te Kuiti district, Mr. J. W. Smith having been transferred to Ashburton. Mr. Smith’s ! assistant, Mr. A. E. Whyte,* will prob- ! ably take up duties at Hamilton, and ! Mr. C. Newsome, assistant stock inI specter at Hamilton, will go to Te : Kuiti as inspector. Mr. J. W. Woodcock, of the fields ; instruction division at Auckland, is to | take over the Taumarunui district. Mr. j 1. Wallace, who has been stationed at 1 Frankton Junction for some years, will : come to Auckland for meat inspection i duties.
