Arrangements for Taumarunui Fixture

COURSE IN GOOD ORDER (From Our Own Correspondent) TAUMARUNUI, Friday. In the absence of the president, Mr. W. H. Wackrow, a meeting of stewards of the Taumarunui Racing Club was presided over by Mr. R. Craig, when arrangements for the two-day meeting next month were reviewed and consolidated.

The secretary, Mr. S. Sarah, reported that he had made arrangements for special trains from North and South on both race days, and also for special connections on the Ohura line to link with trains from Te Kuiti. All trains would stop at the racecourse. Messrs. Adams and Company, Auckland, have secured the catering for luncheon and booths on the grounds. The Taumarunui Boys’ Silver Band will provide music both days, and has received permission to take up a collection in aid of its funds. The secretary stated that Mr. H. McKay would be in attendance with his lorry and ambulance conveniences in case of accidents. The issue of complimentary tickets was deputed to Messrs. G. E. Manson and R. Craig. The following Judicial Committee was appointed: Messrs. W. TI. Wackrow, A. Carlson and A. Adsett. Mr. M. Shaw, of Auckland, was appointed paddock steward. It has been resolved to ask the :\teyor to request shopkeepers to observe the usual hours on race days, r.e., 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course is now being intensively prepared for the meeting and should be in excellent condition. A new number board has been erected, and other improvements given effect to. The secretary was instructed to return thanks to Mr. ID. Gardiner, of Hukapapa, who has donated a silver cup to be presented to the ■winner of the Hack Cup, on the second day’s racing. The big event on the first dav is the Taumarunui Cup, with a stake of ;£l5O and Mr. A. Adsett’s cup valued at 20 guineas. Three local horses are in training, and the owners expect them to make a good showing. REMINDERS Entries for the Waipa Club's annual meeting at Te Awamutu on December 17 close at 5 p.m. on December 2. Nominations for the Manawatu Racing Club's meeting and first forfeits for the Palmerston North Stakes, will close on Friday, December 2, at 0 p.m. Nominations for all events at the Ararton Jockey Club’s meeting will be accepted up to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 9.

Entries for general events at the Auckland summer meeting are due at a p.m. on December 2. On this day also weights for the Auckland Cup are to be announced.
