TOFU A REPORTED.—According to advice received by the local office of the Union Company, the Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Apia. Samoa, at noon on Thursday last and sailed again yesterday for Suva and Auckland. She is to leave Suva next Thursday and is due here on Monday, November 28. AORANGI'S TIME.—The Union Company advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, which is due at Auckland on Sunday, December 4, from Vancouver via ports, is now announced to sail from here at 11 p.m. on Monday, December 5, for Sydney. MANUKA LEAVES MELBOURNE. — Cabled news has been received by tl Union Company that the Manuka left Melbourne at noon on Wednesday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington next Friday, and will leave again the following day for Melbourne direct. PORT DARWIN AT WELLINGTON. — Arriving at Wellington yesterday afternoon from Gisborne, the C. and D. Line advises that the steamer Port Darwin leaves on Wednesday afternoon for Napier, where she completes loading and finally departs on November 29 for London, via Panama. MAHIA'S ITINERARY. NOW at Wellington completing her discharge, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the steamer Mahla will leave there on Monday afternoon for New Plymouth, where she will commence her loading for Home. She will later fill up at Wanganui, thence Wellington and Port Chalmers, and is scheduled to sail finally from the last mentioned port on December 15 for London, via Punta Arenas.

Scales, Ltd., advises that the steamer Martaban, 5,113 tons, has been chartered by them to arrive in New Zealand from Australia to take the December wool berth for Great Britain and the Continent. The steamer Cape Corraora, due at Napier early next week from Port Arthur (Texas) with a cargo of petroleum products. is to take the February loading in New Zealand for Messrs. Geo. M. Scales, Ltd. P. AND O. LINERS’ MOVEMENTS.— Russell and Somers, Ltd., advises the itineraries of the following P. and O. liners: The Moldavia left London November 4, due Fremantle December 6, Sydney December 15. Leaves Sydney December 28, due London February 10. The Naldera loft London on November IS, due Fremantle December 20, Sydney December 29. Leaves Sydney January 11, due London February 23. The Maloja is due at Sydney December 1, and leaves December 14; due London January 26. WAITE MATA ARRIVES.—An arrival in the stream at Auckland shortly after 5 o’clock last night was the Union Company’s transpacific cargo steamer Waitemata from Pacific Coast ports. After pratique was granted the vessel berthed at the Prince's Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. She is expected to resume her voyage on Tuesday. The cargo was loaded at Vancouver, Powell River, Ocean Falls and San Francisco. She sailed from San Francisco on October 25. Captain W. W. Hender is in command and he has with him the following officers:— Chief, Mr. A. Macdonald; second, Mr. J. W. Thomson; third, Mr. J. Macneil; chief engineer, Mr. P. Brewer; second, Mr. N. Fleming; third, Mr. J. P. Berryman; fourth, Mr. J. Dalziel; wireless operator, Mr. D. S. Bell; chief steward, Mr. N. H. ■ Thorne.

The day before the Wattemata reached Auckland the fourth engineer, Mr. J. Dalziel, who is on the eve of being married, was presented by the officers and engineers with a silver entree dish. The presentation was made by Captain Hender, who referred in eulogistic terms to Mr. Dalziel’s popularity on the vessel. TANKER R. J. HANNA ARRIVES.— With a full cargo of over 3,000,000 gallons of benzine for discharge at New Zealand ports, the tanker R. J. Hanna arrived at Auckland at 11 o’clock last evening and berthed shortly after 8 o’clock this morning at Western Wharf to commence discharging. The vessel, which is named after one of the directors of her owners, the Standard Oil Company of California, Ltd., has completed the voyage from San Pedro, a distance of 5,665 miles, in 22 days 9 hours, at an average speed of 10.64 knots. Excellent weather prevailed all the way, the tanker passing through first the north-east trades and then the south-east trades. Although the sky was cloudy most of the way very little rain fell, and the ocean was disturbed by only a slight swell. The last trip the R. J. Hanna made from San Pedro to Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, and she encountered a very severe hurricane off Lord Howe Island on the outward voyage. Besides having a large cargo capacity the vessel carries enough bunkers to take her round the world, thus enabling her to make the trip to and from New Zealand and Australia without taking on a fresh supply. She was built in 1921 by th© Union Construction Company, of Oakland, California, and is registered as 7.095 tons gross. Fitted with a Sperry - Gyro compass and pilot, she was thus enabled to steer herself all the way from the American coast.
