His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral who is suffering from an attack nf shingles in the head and one of the £ves following on neuritis, is making fairly satisfactory progress, although, owing to the nature of the complaint, his recovery must necessarily be slow. —Press Association. \i r J. Northcroft, who has been visiting the South, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. G. Poison, president of the Hew Zealand Farmers’ Union, arrived in Hamilton to-day from the South. Mr. G. C. Godfrey, Secretary of the Marine Department, arrived from Wellington this morning. He is staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. R- E. Rudman, principal of the Kowhai Junior High School, has resumed his duties after being absent on sick leave for several months. Major T. M. Wilkes, Director of Air Services, and Captain J. L. Findlay, who have been sitting on a comimttee to select ten cadets for the Territorial Air Forces, left by train for Wellington last evening. Mr. D. L. McKay, first assistant district public trustee at Auckland, has been promoted to district public trustee at New Plymouth.
