AUCKLAND’S HOPE
THOUGH not nearly so strongly represented as on some previous occasions, there will still be a fair team of Canterbury horses engaged at the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s spring meeting, and the majority of those engaged are quite capable of winnins races. A. Hendricksen has his Cup horse, Cardinal Logan, and a very useful performer in Daytime; and R. B. Berry is on the scene with Jean McElwyn and Sea Pearl. The last-named usually races well on the Auckland track,.but in the big race on the first day she will have her work cut out to give a start to Cardinal Logan. Jewel Pointer on 48yds behind may be expected to keep the elect of Canterbury doing its best. He is a good little pacer, endowed with a great burst of speed, and will see the two miles journey out from end to end.
