No Betting on Night Sports TIN HARES AND TROTS NEW SOUTH WALES DECISION The Premier of New South Wales, Mr. T. R. Bavin, announced after a meeting of Cabinet last week that the Government had decided that no betting should be allowed on night trotting. tin-hart racing or any other sport held at night. “The Chief Secretary, Mr. Bruntnell,” added Mr. Bavin, “brought the matter before Cabinet. The question is somewhat complicated by the action of the last Government in granting permission for night trotting and tinhare racing. But so far as any action by the Government under the present law can prevent betting at night that action will be taken at once. "If any amendment of the law is necessary, it will be made as soon as possible. . ... The Final Word “This statement must be taken as the final statement of the policy of the Government. “There will be no interference, however. with trotting meetings already advertised. "As far as tin hares are concerned, we are inquiring to see whether any action can be taken under the present law in regard to betting at night.
