AMBULANCE CONTEST
AUCKLAND TEAM WINS E. JONES SHIELD HIGH STANDARD OF WORK The St. John Ambulance Brigade’s annual competition for the E. Jones Ambulance Shield, presented by Mr. Ernest Jones, of Karangahape Road, for competition by divisions of the Auckland Corps, took place on Wednesday evening at the Ambulance Station, Rutland Street. Six squads competed in the three events. There was a large assembly of spectators, including. Mr. F. J. Hutchinson, senior district superintendent. Mr. R. E. Jones officiated as timekeeper. The judges were Dr. W. H. Parkes, Dr. A. Eisdell Moore and Dr. Cyril Tewsley. The results were as follows: B Squad, Auckland Division, 134 points, 1.
C Squad, National Reserve Division, 123 points, 2. E Squad, National Reserve Division, 121 points, 3. The possible was 150 points.
Dr. Parkes, ip an address to the competitors after the competition, oomfnented on the high standard of the w;ork done and remarked on the closeness of the points awarded. He also gave sqme useful information Vcm vtfork generally.
