MEETING OF COUNCIL A letter was received by the Newmarket Borough Council from Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., last .evening, stating that he had beef? pleased to receive the comments on the Motor "Vehicles .Bill and would have some of the objections voiced during the committee stage. Facilities were granted the inspector to attend the annual meeting of the conference of the New .Zealand sanitary Inspectors’ Association at Napier in January next. * * * Permission was granted the Play and Recreation Association to hold a street collection in Newmarket streets on Friday, December 2, in aid of the Freeman s Bay Community Club. • • • A circular letter was received from the Under- Secretary of the Public Works Department stating that the system of each body dealing under its b'v-laws with motor vehicular traffic had not been found to be satisfactory due to the wide range of travel of motor-vehicles. Draft regulations had been prepared by the Government with the object of obtaining uniformity throughout New Zealand in the essential requirements of motor-vehicle control. A copy of the draft t\as forwarded. The question was referred to the Streets Committee.
