“CALLAHANS AND MURPHYS” Three of the world’s most famous women combined their talents in the creation of “The Callahans and the Murphys,” Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s hilarious comedy-romance of Irish life in New York, which is now being shown at the Grand Theatre. The first is Kathleen Norris, the author, whose novel was the basis for the story, and the second is Frances Marion, the celebrated scenarist, who adapted it to the screen. The third is/Marie Dressier, the world-famous stage comedienne, who plays the role of “Mrs. Callahan” in the picture. She and Polly Moran are introduced as the screen’s first feminine comedy team. Sally O’Neil, Gertrude Olmsted, Lawrence Gray, and other favourites, are included in the cast. George Hill, of “Tell It to the Marines’” fame, directed.
