COAL MINES BILL
(THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
The Coal Mines Bill has been amended in regard to two of its provisions by the Goldfields and Mines Committee of the House, to which it had been referred.
In the clause regarding the wages of workmen being an equitable charge on plant, etc., the time has been limited to a period not exceeding six months. It is proposed to amend, also, section 72 of the principal Act by inserting a new sub-section providing that the amount of air passing into the mine shall be so distributed throughout the mine to ensure that the total quantity of in the current conductor into any working place is not less than the minimum required for the persons and horses employed in that working place.
