IMPROVING STANLEY BAY
GOOD PROGRESS MADE It was. decided at the annual meeting of the Stanley Bay Improvement Association, that the executive should formulate a revised plan for the laying out of the reserve. The report presented by the treasurer, Mr. J. A. Gentles, showed a balance of £923. The benefits derived from the Government’s unemployed subsidy, from which the sum of £585 had been received, were pointed out by the chairman. Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of* Devon port. The Citizens’ Unemployment Committee had given £3OO and the Returned Soldiers’ Association £IOO, both carrying Government subsidies. The Devonport Borough Council had donated £2OO and the tennis club £IOO, the total amount available for improvements being over £2,500. Work in the reserve had progressed rapidly, and the tennis lawns were almost completed. The children’s playground had been improved and the bank facing the wharf had been sown in grass.
