NEW REGENT
“FAST AND FURIOUS” The pick of America’s best automobile racing talent, comprising a galaxy of motor speedway stars were directed by Melville Brown during the filming .of “Fast and Furious,” the latest Uni-versal-Jewel production starring Reginald Denny, now being shown at the New Regent Theatre. The list of daredevil speed-annihila-tors included Eddie Hearne, J. L. Wilharber, Russell Garment, Steve Elmore, Ted Simpson, Eddie Miller, Dewey S.kipworth and a dozen others. The troupe of racers spent several weeks at California race tracks, including the mile and a-quarter speedway at San Luis Obispo. Costly highpowered racing cars, many of which have shattered world’s speed records, were used in the thrilling race sequences, in which Denny himself, noted as a motor sports enthusiast, participated. Leo Nomis, recognised as one of the most successful stunt drivers in the game, was engaged to wreck his expensive racing mount at a dangerous corner at a high rate of speed in the course of a hair-raising tilt with Denny in his car. Barbara Worth, one of Universal’s younger players, who had been featured in 'Western film roles, makes her debut as a leading lady for Denny in this picture. The cast also includes Claude Gillingwater, Armand Kaliz, Lee Moran, Charles K. French, Wilson Benge and other popular players. “Fast and Furious” was written by Denny himself and adapted to the screen by Raymond Cannon.
