DEATH OF MR. SHAW

INQUEST AT HAMILTON EXPLANATION OF FIRE (From 'Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. A verdict of accidental death was returned by the coroner. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at Hamilton yesterday, concerning the death of Mr. Sutherland Shaw, aged 47, the Te Atatu farmer, who received fatal burns through a motor-car bursting into flames while a party of six was motoring to his daughter’s wedding. The driver of the car, Lionel Richard Moor, said that flames burst out suddenly, enveloping the whole vehicle and everyone in the car was burned. The day before the trip he had had the benzine system overhauled on account of leakage. A plug ignition wire sometimes worked loose. By coming into contact with metal this wire would cause a spark. After the accident he found the attachment plug off. When the fire broke out it was impossible for him to control the car and it ran into a bank.
