BLAIR BEFORE THE (foURT COMMITTED FOR TRIAL (From. Our Oxen Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. Tragic details in connection with the double fatality which occurred at. Hillcrest recently, when two single men, John Ward, aged 25, and Walter Thornton Reynolds, aged 27, were killed through a collision between a ear and their motor-cycle, were again recounted this morning, when John Blair, aged 20. driver of the car, appeared before Justices of the Peace on a charge of driving a motor-vehicle, thereby causing the death of John Ward. Mr. C. Taylor appeared in the interest of the defendant and SeniorSergeant Sweeney conducted the case for the police. Similar evidence to that tendered at the inquest was given. An examination of the motor-cycie after the accident, disclosed that it had aparently been struck a glancing blow in the middle, while the hub of the car’s right front wheel was torn off, indicating the heavy shock. The mudguard was dented and the hinge of the front door had skin and hair adhering to it, while both doors on the right side of the car were dented and bloodstained. No evidence was called on behalf of the accused, who pleaded not guilty, and reserved his defence. He was committed for. trial, bail being renewed in accused’s own recognisance of £2OO, and two sureties of £IOO each.
