The poacher Enoch Dix, who was yesterday convicted of the manslaughter of a gamekeeper on the Earl of Temple's estate, was to-day sentenced to penal servitude for 15 years. The Judge, in delivering sentence, referred to the various degrees of manslaughter, and said he desired by the sentence to protect others who "ere in the same position as the murdered man.—A. and N.Z.
