APPOINTMENTS APPROVED STOCKHOLM AND WARSAW British Wireless—Press Assn.—Copyright RUGBY, Saturday. King George has approved of the following appointments in the Diplomatic Services:—Sir Tudor Vaughan, at present Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Riga, Reval and Kovno, to be Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Stockholm; Sir William Erskine, now Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Sofia, to be Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Warsaw.—A. and N.Z. Sir John Charles Tudor Vaughan was born in 1870 and entered the Diplomatic Service in 1593. He was a secretary at the Hague, Athens and Cairo, and in Pretoria. He was in 1900 Political Secretary to the late Field-Marshal Earl Roberts. Later he was at Peking; and Madrid, and in 1906 was secretary to the British Delegation at the Algeciras Treaty Conference. He was Minister to Chile, 191 S-22, and has occupied his Baltic post since 1924. Sir William A. F. Erskine was born in IS7I, and is the second son of the Earl of Mar and Kellie. He was at Eton and Magdalen College, Oxford. He entered the Foreign Office in 1894. and after various secretaryships was in 1913 Charge d’Affaires in Stockholm. TTe was later for some years British delegate on the International Finance Commission in Athens, and Minister to Cuba. 1919-21, when he was appointed to Bulgaria.
