NOTES AND COMMENTS PROVINCIAL GOSSIP*, POINTERS FOR OTAHUHU TRACERS of various degrees will A assist at the Otahuhu fixture which opens at Alexandra Park next week-end, and everything points to the function being a big success both from a speculative and spectacular point of view.. Although the fields in the chief events may not be large, there is suffb cient material to ensure good racing. In Good Quarters Typist, who is a member of J. t. Haul’s Manger© establishment, is a useful sort that should show up t© advantage if started at the Otahuhu fixture. Typist was at one time in the powerful Corrigan stable, and was no; by any means the slowest of the crowd. Not Too Reliable Dillon Huon, who formerly was associated with McKendrick Bros., at Epsom, has been showing trainer Bullock something pretty good of late, and the stable supporters intend being on to a man if the Hawera-traine: pacer comes North. Latterly, however, Dillon Huon does not do thing* as well with the colours up. Three-leafed Clover Hohora is one worth keeping in mind, and in fact Roamer is another that can puli out a good effort when wound up. This pair is associated with the promising mare Raremai, who if kept to 10 and 12 furlong heats could get some good money. Any one of the clover crowd might soon get on the list. The Silver Lining There is a silver lining to every cloud, and it is appearing on th“horizon'’ for owner Mitchell, uho&e luck has not been of the best for souk time past. However, judging by tlirresolute manner in which Horizon if working of late, there must be a prir* looming up in the near future. An Excitable Mare Halguna’s spell lias evidently nut proved to her advantage, and the mar. appears to have become high strum She looks nice and bright, but wh n stepped out on the Epsom tracks gets on her toes and causes her trainer no end of concern. Such tactics on race days will avail nothing. Out to Break It Soon Rockburn is on the improve and there will be something wrong if tne Australian-bred pacer does not win at the Otahuhu or Waikato fixtures. A. McMillan has the Auckland-owned gelding in nice trim anti probably the racing at Alexandra l*urk during ID next week or so will see him in apple pie order for the Waikato Cup. A Genuine Uncle Uncle Bert is working away a-s nothing was of any consequence, and the aged son of Gold Bell will tHbobbing up again before long. It was said at one time that Uncle was not genuine, but since finding his way to Jim Lynclis care he lias been th- c -*" sence of reliability. J.L. has uit happy knack of getting the best ou. of the steeds, and Bert will have mor* speed extracted yet. Still Has Friends Gold Jacket continues to work o« the right way, and when next stepped out will not lose any friends lor w* failure in the final heat at the Anc»land fixture. That the son of Gold Bell put up a good performance wnw topped-oft by William the Great was exemplified ou Tuesday at Cnn»' church, when H. Frost’s charge a good field over two miles. A Big Puzzle Luvan has her people, fairly P* 2 **??! and the public also. LAtel ;. k not do anything right ou the track and it looks as if the ex-Awd* is becoming “iffy.” u, ures, however, the public will *ti _ . her, in the hope of reaping & j*e _ She may, as one supposed hgn ", ness authority recently mentions the writer, be the only local canaioa . • that could get a stake, but if t 0 will be well burnt waiting tor arrive. Lucky Owner The luck of the popular owner «- Nelson Tasker appears to be ng As a result of lenient treatment the Auckland fixture, his ha*y speedy racehorse. Nelson Tas Her, enabled to have a good win, ana, *? result, he is now only on a mar he might easily have been on a ago. He should get another before being grabbed. A Nice Team George Phipps worked Black over the larger journey week-end, and the at an even gait. Hick Union, 1 bright and gay, stepped ™ errl \w, nrpe a few circuits, while Grattan Tt was giving a lot of cheek u ‘ n( j The Roskill team is in fine buckle must get some money soonA Jazz Pupil Wrigley is an improved h° rs ® s ‘kul he raced at Epsom last » dea j he did not have the best of ui in the Stewards Handicap, to i Otahuhu fixture, and S lorize l withdrawn.
