MR. DAY SUPPORTS LOAN WAITEMATA POWER POLL CONVERTED to the £BO,OOO _ loan proposal which he has hitherto opposed, Mr. H. Day has decided to take the platform in support with his colleague mem- » bers of the Waitemata Power Board. With £26,000 of the loan allocated to county work, Mr. Day remarked that he saw some prospect of the people in the country getting power, and he would now advise the ratepayers to vote for it. Mr. J. YV. Hayden, chairman of the board, gave optimistic accounts of the country meetings and canvasses recently made. The general better tone of prosperity about had resulted in more successful canvasses than previously. Subject to guarantees and the carrying of the loan, extension to Taupaki was authorised by the board. Mr. Hayden expressed hopes that the Brown’s Bay extension would soon be guaranteed. Subject to the carrying of the loan the poles would be erected to Albany within four months.
