Minister’s Death.——The death of tie Rev. W. Lay cock, a well-known Methodist minister, at the age of 69, is reported from Christchurch.—Press Association. Boy Drops Dead.—James O’Brien aged 12, while pushing a cycle up hill at Xelson Creek, Grevmouth. yesterday, dropped dead from heart failure. —Press Association. Fire Threatens Timber Stacks-— A* grass fire at Onehunga threatened several stacks of timber in the Parker. Limb Company yards or; Saturday afternoon. The fire was put out by the Fire Bridgade. but not before some of the timber was charred. Labourer’s Leg Broken. John Barens, aged 73. a labourer, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Saturday suffering from a fractured • leg. Mr. Barens lives at 38’Grey Street. Newton. His condition this afternoon ' was reported as improving.
