TOWN PLANNING
NO AMENDMENT TO ACT According to advice received at a recent meeting of the Auckland TownPlanning Association no amendments to the Town-Planning Act are proposed by the Government this session. The Minister of Internal Affairs said that it was held that the Act makes sufficient provision to enable townplanning schemes to be properly prepared. The suggested amendments forwarded by the association had been noted for later consideration. A letter forwarded to the Prime Minister urging that the office of Director of Town Planning be advertised throughout the Empire was read. The secretary reoprted that copies of the letter had been forwarded to the Press throughout the Dominion for publication. It was resolved to hold a public meeting in Mount Albert to protest against the destruction of the mountain by quarrying operations. The chairman. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth. and Air. G. M. F with Mr. Turner in arranging the meeting. The Auckland Automobile Association and the Council of the Auckland University College wrote advising the appointment of delegates to the General Council. It was decided to hold future meetings of the executive on the third Tuesday in each month ancl to invite members of the general council lu attend.
