CANADIAN PIONEER SAlLS.—After! discharging, the local portion of Iter general cargo from Montreal, the Canadian Pioneer sailed from Auckland this afternoon for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin to put out the rest and commence filling up for the return trip to Canada. THE PORT HARDY.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer I’ort Hardy, which arrived from London on Thursday afternoon, is. expected to «*;oin- ; plete unloading explosives at Motuihi at mid-day to-day. This afternoon the | vessel will come into port and berth at i Queen’s Wharf to unload 4.500 tons of 1 general merchandise to the agency of the | Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering j Company. The remainder of the cargo is j for Wellington, and the vessel should leave here about Friday next. CITY OF KHIOS REPORTED.—Under charter b- the A. and A. Line, the steamer City of Khios is reported to have reached Colon last Tuesday en route from New York to New Zealand. The vessel is bringing case oil and general merchandise for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about the beginning of* December. The New Zealand Shipping Company are the local agents. NEW STEAMER FOR AUCKLAND.— Bought in England by Mr. George Nk - col and shipped out in sections by the j Federal steamer Norfolk, which arrived at Auckland on Wednesday morning last, j is a new steamer for Auckland. The j sections were unloaded yesterday after- I noon and taken round to Air. MAHIA FROM SOUTH AFRICA. —With j a thousand tons of South African maize ■ | for discharge at Auckland and Welling- I j ton, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer, ! i Mahia arrived in the stream at Auck- f I ] and at eight o’clock last evening and I ! berthed at 7 o'clock this morning at ! | King's Wharf. The Mahia was several ! months in London refitting, and then she I went to Hamburg on August 22 last to ! commence loading. Returning to the : English capital she completed taking on general merchandise and sailed on September 1 for South Africa. She arrived at Capetown three weeks later, took on 1,000 tons of South African maize and sailed on September 26 for Australia Melbourne was reached on October IS, Sydney on October 23, Newcastle on October 25, and Brisbane on October 27. The Mahia then proceeded to Williamstown to complete the discharge of her general ! merchandise, and sailed from Australia ; finally last week for Auckland. ! During her round trip from London i tbe Mahia has experienced all kinds <.i w.-aiher, and sailed in ; the heat of the tropic to tbe bitterly cold blast coming across from the Cape to j Australia.
