PAINTING COMPETITION

The Painting and Proverb Competition proved very popular and the work was of a high standard. The majority of competitors guessed the proverb which the picture illustrated: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." The prize-winning entry is outstanding. George Gatfield has forwarded a cleverly executed piece of work in tempera colours, the whole being set off by a dark mount. His picture is well worth framing and would grace any wail. Among the large number of entries, those of David Collingwood. Jack Montague. Marie Gunthorp and Kathleen Grieve are worthy of special mention.
