OLIVER McLENNON “ARRIVES” IN LONDON
TT is not often that an actor find* his name in large type in the announcements of the first play in which he appears in London. This, however, is the happy record of Oliver McLennon, who had only been three weeks in London before he signed his contract to appear in “Peggy-Ann” at Daly's theatre. He is another of the leading men to graduate from the chorus, but in his native Melbourne he was always stepping into important parts, for he deputised for one principal actor or another in some twenty-four musical comedies. He is what the theatre calls a “very quick study.” So well known was it that one Tuesday morning, “down under,” while he was fulfilling an engagement in a variety theatre, he was asked if he would play the leading part in a musical comedy at the matinee next day. It was a very long part, with four songs and two singing finales, but, in spite of the shortness of the time, he accepted t .e offer, came through the ordeal with flying colours, and returned to his own show in the evening. Mr. McLennon h?s appeared m J.C.W. shows in New lealand.
