Williams.O.n, Eilerslie, . A Win for Dave The order along the back was Billikins, Awarere, Dave, Royal Lover and Exalted, King Leslie being well back. Into the straight Billikins was half a length in front of Awarere, with Dave close up, these being the only horses with a show. Once straightened up for home, Dave got an uninterrupted run on the rails to beat Awarere by half a length, with Billikins a similardistance away third. The favourite began to drift back after going a < urlongs. Then Takutama ran to the front and with Billi'kins showed the way into the straight ; to Desert Knight, Dimmer, Te Koroke I and Bright Dawn. When straightened ! up for home Te Koroke came through ! to win by half a length from Billikins, j with Bright Dawn two lengths away third. Takutama was fourth" and i Desert Knight.
