“NO CHANGE OF FRONT”

MR. POLSON’S EVIDENCE TO BILLS COMMITTEE arbitration amendment Press Association. ■ ' WELLINGTON, To-day, The Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union, Mr. W J. Poison, states that in a telegram reporting his evidence before the Labour Bills Committee he was represented as condemning the proposal to exclude the farmers, whereas on the contrary he asked for an exemption for all those industries in which the farmers are substantially interested. As he has received a number of letters tirotesting against his supposed ••change of front,” this correction is published in fairness to .him,

NOT HOSTILE EMPLOYERS’ ATTITUDE TO FARMERS Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday, Mr. T. O. Bishop, secretary to the Employers’ Federation, appeared before the Locol Bills Committee of the House of Representatives again today to refute the suggestion that the federation was antagonistic to the primary producers. Ha said that extracts from public pronouncements of the federation clearly showed that at all times the federation had fully recognised, not only the importance to the Dominion of primary production, but also the difficulties which confronted the primary producers. These statements, which had all been published at various times, should clearly establish the fact that the Employers’ Federation fully recognised the farmers’ position, and was only desirous of placing the whole of its knowledge arid experience at the service of the farming community.
