TIRED M.P.'S
SESSION DRAGGING TOWARD END ANOTHER TWO WEEKS (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Although those controlling the flow of legislation to Parliament had hoped to have the legislative decks cleared by the end of next week there appears a likelihood that this will not be so if those measures which are on the Order Paper are to be considered by the House. The Licensing Bill assuredly will get a run next week, and the Arbitration Bill doubtless will be discussed when it returns to the House from the Labour Bills Committee, even if not gone on with this session. There is much speculation as to what form the measure will reappear in and the suggestion is made that the Hon. G. J. Anderson’s object in bringing the Bill down was to ascertain the attitude of both sides. This is hardly correct, however, as it is believed in the lobbies that the Minister made a genuine endeavour to amend the Arbitration Act. The Education Amendment Bill will bring many members to their feet and religious exercises might be involved. The Prime Minister’s forecast of the few Bills yet to come still holds good. The House is a very tired one, however, and the general attitude of members appears to be “we don’t care how soon it finishes.” Another two weeks should see things cleaned up.
