Tallow was also firm last sales The range of prices was as follows: Sheepskins-—Halfbred, 2d to 14id; fine crossbred, 10d to 14d; medium coarse crossbred. 10id to 13d; short to half wools, 8d to 11 sd; lambs. 9d to 14d: dead and damaged crossbred, Sd to 113 d; inferior and badly damaged, 4d to Sd; pelts, 4d to Sd; damp, salted and green, 4s to 12s 6d: lambs, salted, 2s 3d to 3s lOd. MINING NEWS NEW RIVER.—The manager reports; Thirty-six ounces were washed •up for 103 hours’ dredging from B,2ooyds of gravel. The dredge is now only 90ft. from No. 9 shaft, which disclosed highly - payable wash, and this should-be reached by November IS.

DIVIDENDS DECLARED Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. The directors of the Bank of New Zealand have declared interim dividends payable on December 3. as follows: Is 4d per share on the ordinary shares: £50,000 on the A preference shares held by H.M. the King; £41,666 13s 4d on the B preference shares held by H.M. the Iving; 6 per cent, to September 13, 1927, on the C long-term mortgage shares held by H.M. the King: a 7i per cent, dividend to September 30, on the D long-term mortgage shares. Mr. Alex. Jobson, of Sydney, lias been appointed a local director of the Bank of New Zealand in that city.
PORK BONUS WANTED
MEETING OF PRODUCERS (Special tb THE SUN.) WELLINGTON, Friday. “In order to save the pig industry” the Government is to be asked to grant producers a bonus that will ensure a net minimum return to exporters of 5d a lb. Thus a resolution passed at a conference of representatives of the pig producers held here to-day. .Messrs. W. J. Poison, president of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, J. G. Cobbe, chairman of the Pig Export Federation, H. H. Stirling, representing the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Comf»any, were among those who spoke in avour of a bonus of some nature. A committee comprising Messrs. Stirling, Poison and S. A. Broadbelt (Levin Dairy Company) was set up to place the question before the Government. The committee was also instructed to cooperate with the Meat and Dairy Boards m Pf° vi <I>ng a system of export sales which will ensure the proper application of the bonus.
