SUBURBAN BUSES

THROUGH SERVICES TO GO

A reply to a petition asking for an improved service was received from the City Council Tramways Committee at a meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council last evening.

The letter stated that the bus service between Mount Albert Road and Dominion Road tram terminus was a 16-minute service at rush periods and 20-minute service at other times, except for intervals from 9.58 to 10.30 a.m., and from 6.8 to 6.38 p.m. It was intended to discontinue the through bus from Mount Albert Road to the city and to increase the feeder service to 10-minute service, during busy periods on th€i Dominion Road route. On the Mount Eden Road route, the feeder service to Boundary Road would be increased to an 8-minute service in busy periods, and 16-minute service during the remainder of the day, the through buses being discontinued.

"The feeder services had been discussed at a conference between the council and the Mount Roskill Road Board last Wednesday, said the Mayor, Mr. E. H. Potter, and a copy of the adopted recommendation had been sent to the City Council. The extension of th€; service to Waikowhai and an hourly service both morning and evening from Waikowhai to the city via Mount Eden Road were included in the proposals.
