“FAUST”
CAMILLA HORNE’S NEW ROLE
Camilla Horne, a newcomer to the screen, was discovered by F. W. Murnau, the producer of “Faust.” "Marguerite is known to everybody to have been chaste as the driven snow,” he said, “so it was very difficult to engage an actress who was too well known. So many o% them are married, which, of course, excluded them from the role. §so I had to find a girl, pretty, winsome, and a good actress, whom the breath of public opinion had not yet touched. I found this fragile creature in Miss Horne. She is just 17 years old, and had never before been screened. Tests soon showed that she was ideal for the part. She has a good deal of the naive qualities of Lilian Gisfi. ethereal, charming, dovelike. I am more than lucky to have found her.” In “Faust,” the U.F.A. masterpiece, which Cinema Art Films are releasing. Miss Horne has every opportunity to live the part of a wholesome girl whose only sin is that she loved unwisely. And yet by that love she was able at the end to save the soul of a man. Emil Jannings, who portrays the role of Mephisto. declared that never before had he appeared on the screen with an actress so in sympathy with her part. “It was' a delight to work with her.” he said, “she was so quick to grasp every nuance of the role. And off-stage she was as delightful with her eager questions and her keen desire to learn. I predict a great future before her.” “Faust” is due shortly to the Regent Theatre.
