The average profit for the last three years has been £46,000 per annum, lhe profit for the six months ending September 30, 1927 (the first half of the present financial year) exceeds £23,000, so that the total for the year should be well above the average. As the total amount necessary for the year’s dividends is about £20,000, the Company has again earned in six months more than a year’s dividend on all classes of shares. With the profit carried forward from last year, there is now sufficient in the Profit and Loss Account to pay two years’ dividends. In view of the fact that most companies have been finding business very unsatisfactory for some time, the result of the six months’ trading speaks volumes for the loyalty of our shareholders and the confidence of the general public in our prices and quality. Shareholders and customers generally have expressed appreciation of the much higher quality goods being stocked in all departments.
