NO INQUIRY IN N.Z.

DEPOSITIONS TAKEN ON TAHITI’S ARRIVAL Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. r As the Sydney ferry catastrophe did not occur on the New Zealand coast there was no official inquiry in Wellington on the arrival of the Tahiti today, but the depositions of the ship’s officers were taken by the marine superintendent of the Union Company, and detectives boarded the vessel on her arrival to take the statements of some of the passengers. The Marine Department of New Zealand would, of course, have held an inquiry here had it been requested, but it was not asked to do so. An official inquiry will be held in Sydney probably on the return of the Tahiti to that port.
