BENEFIT DANCE AT TAKANINI
A very successful dance was held in the Takanini Parish Hall on Saturday evening, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the funds of the Papakura Dental Clinic through the agency of Miss Watson, who is the Business Queen in a carnival arranged to swell the clinic’s funds. The arrangements were in the hands of Mrs. N. Watson, who assisted by a committee of Takanini women, ensured a successful function. The musical programme was supplied by Pope’s Orchestra. Messrs. Collings and Watson capably fulfilled the duties of M.C. A dainty supper was served by the ladies’ committee. During the evening two spot waltzing competitions were held, the winners being Miss V. Mclntosh and Mr. M. Bell; and Miss V. Watkinson and partner. Through her charming singing of “Please Give Me a Penny, Sir,” little Auriole Hope was the means of raising two guineas for the Business Queen.
