"PLAIN THEFT”
SHOPLIFTER FINED £2O KLEPTOMANIA PLEA FAILS Anna Mills, aged 37, who appeared for sentence at the Police Court to-day on six shop-lifting charges, was fined £2O, in default one month’s imprisonment. Mrs. Mills pleaded guilty to the charges last Friday, and her counsel. Mr. Inder, then submitted that she was a kleptomaniac. In sentencing her to-day Mr. E. Page, S.M., said that he took no notice of the kleptomania plea. To him, it seemed to be a case of plain theft. The fine was imposed on the first charge and on the other five she was ordered to come up for sentenfe when called upon. She was also ordered to pay £lO, the value of the damaged goods.
