NON-STOP JOURNEY
HINKLER AND MCINTOSH MAY FLY TO AUSTRALIA
Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON', Sunday. In the event of Mr. Bert Hinkler and Captain Mclntosh making a successful non-stop flight to India, they propose making another non-stop stage to Singapore, and a third to Darwin, hoping to accomplish the distance in 110 flying hours. Their planes seem to consist almost entirely of petrol tanks, although room has been found for a mattress on
I which the aviators will snatch a few hours’ sleep. A special feature of the machine is a hole that has been cut in the roof of the fuselage to enable sextant observations to be made to determine their position at night time. —A. and N.Z.
