YOUNG SCOT IN TROUBLE Because his people were in poor circumstances, John Craig Allen Porter, young Scots immigrant, stole blanket.-, towels and a bottle of peroxide of hydrogen from the Auckland Hospital. He admitted the offence when charged at the Police Court to-day. Chief-Detective Cummings said that accused had been in New Zealand thr< years, and until early in October ha«l been employed as a porter at the Auckland Hospital. The Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt (to accused): Why did you do this? “My people were in poor circumstances,” replied accused. ‘‘That’s no reason why you should steal for them,” said the magistrate. Porter was placed on probation for 12 months.
